While not a tea at all “Tea Tree” was first coined by Captain James Cook in 1732. He came across the Australian Aboriginals preparing an aromatic blend of leaves that they had gathered from the Melaleuca tree. Captain Cook was said to have brewed the concoction for his crew in order to prevent scurvy.
Today Tea Tree essential oil is one of the top used oils on the market. Tea tree has a fresh yet distinct medicinal scent. It can be slightly woodsy with sharp and spicy notes. It is best known for its antibacterial and antifungal abilities making it a great addition to a natural foot soak.
Tea Tree Essential Oil Foot Soak Epsom Salt - 1 Cup Dead Sea Salt/Sea Salt - 1/4 cup Baking Soda - 1/4 cup Tea Tree Oil - 10 drops Coconut Oil - 2 tablespoons (softened or melted)
1. In a small bowl combine all of the ingredients, mix until blended well.
2. Prepare a foot bath with warm water.
3. Mix in your Tea Tree Foot Soak concoction and stir to dissolve the salts.
4. Soak your feet for 15-20 minutes then pat dry with a towel.
Tip - make the water a little hotter than your desired temperature to start with. Allow to cool slightly while you mix in the soak to your preferred temperature.
